Chris was given an introduction to photography whilst studying for a BA(Hons) in Fine Art, since when she used it only as an aid in the process of painting and recording. However, in recent years photography has become increasingly important to her as an art form in its own right. Whereas painting involves the building up of an image, she uses photography to extract from what is already visible in an attempt to create aesthetically pleasing and thought-provoking compositions.
She is primarily drawn to simple imagery, where form and/or blocks of colour play a large part. The challenge then is to attempt to transfer what's before her from the everyday, unnoticed and mundane in to something 'other'.
